Mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community. (World Health Organization)
In our school our Christian vision shapes all we do. We recognise that everyone is made in the image of God and is innately good and as such should be valued, feel they belong and have a voice to share their thought and feelings in a safe and supportive community.
To achieve this, we aim:
• to promote positive mental health for all staff and volunteers
• to increase understanding and awareness of common mental health issues
• to alert staff to early warning signs of poor mental health and wellbeing
• to recognise and respond to need as it arises
• promote a safe and understanding environment for those affected both directly, and indirectly by mental health and wellbeing issues
• implementing practical, relevant and effective mental health and wellbeing procedures
We pursue this aim using:
• universal support
• targeted school support
• specialist support
